Indian Hindi Movie Songs and Rangoli

The other day I was listening a song on TV "Jo waada kiya woh nibhana padega,roke jamana chahe, roke khudaai, tumko aana padega".The song is so melodious,enchanting and soothing.Something is there with these Indian old hindi movie songs.These have been written years back,sung long ago,composed an age before.Still they seem fresh,tender,exciting and so on.Whenever I listen this song,I am reminded of my childhood days.Rangoli used to be aired on doordarshan every Sunday 7 a.m sharp.Loved to watch the show and specially the songs aired on that.The most important thing was we used to watch and listen all the songs.Nowadays we have the so called 'remote' to switch to other channel, if we don't feel listening any particular song.
          There are so many old hindi songs which made a regular appearance in rangoli.For instance 'Chahe koi mujhe junglee kahein Yahoo!','Baar Baar dekho hazaar baar dekho','Dil ke jharokho pe tujhko bithakar','Pyaar kiya toh darna kya' and many more.The songs were countless,but each had its own melody and distinct identity.
         The show had many old actresses as its host.To name a few I remember Hema Malini,Asha Parekh,Sharmila Tagore etc.One episode had Sharmila Tagore narrating her childhood school days.She remembered a song which was a hit number those days.'Lovers' during her teens used this particular song to propose.The song was 'Hume toh lut liye milke husnwalo ne,kaale kaale baalo ne,gore gore gaalon ne'
    The Sunday morning breeze,the rising sun,the old Hindi songs and the beautiful hostesses blended very nicely. Simply a great start for all we kids to begin our only holiday.
Rangoli and songs used to enchant us.As rangoli is put before Indian households to delight approaching guests.In a similar fashion these songs were presented to Indian senses as heavenly feeling.The effect is 'memorable Indian vivid impression for a lifetime'.

The strange story of Indian names

Today we five of us were discussing in canteen about different names in the world.The group included two South Indians,Two Bengalis and one Oriyan including me.
      It all started with Ujjwala one of the south Indian girl, she asked Anamika 'The Oriyan girl' the meaning of her name.Anamika explained that its the ring finger which is the meaning of her name.
Then we had a series of information flowing out from each and everybody.
  People do not prefer 'Aniket' name since it means a person without any home.'Tulsi' is a name which is not found in any bengali household since the plant is always kept outside in the verandah or near the entrance.One more interesting fact that there is no Indian below 58 years of age with the name Devidas.
This is an interesting bit took from one of the CCD screens.Jyoti is a name which is for both the genders in India.

An Indian girl's delimma

Its been so many years I have stopped writing.But the writing thing cannot go out of me I guess as I am much a thinker type and cannot survive without analyzing things.So here I am,with my first ever blog 'An Indian girl's delimma' specially of the modern day girl,the gen X.

Life of her starts on a smooth platform with the shell of her mom and dad.They take care of each of her requisites and her emotions.She starts with a good nursery school learning the ABC's then joins a convent school to advance her knowledge from amatuer to an expert.
         For some of the species, this creature has to struggle to get an admission to a good proffessional college.Specially if the educational fees is higher.She has to compromise for her siblings,for the financial status of the family and all those other hundred reasons.If somebody lucky has crossed all the hurdles then she is an achiever truly ,she becomes a proffessional,kudos to her.

She finds a job for her surely.Initial years she struggles to establish her career ,does all possible things to polish it.Sometimes she stretches,she struggles,she simplifies the complex circumstances to get her niche in the proffession.After having done all this, one fine day her parents decide to get her married.
Her 'would be' husband wants him to leave her hard earned job.The reason is simple 'A women's career is not so important,she has to look after her family'.And here the delimma starts and continues.

In India today you will find thousands of such women,some of them working,struggling each day,tethered between the family and her proffession.In an attempt to balance both she loses her existence completely.She forgets her as an individual.Does any family member realize that.This blog is dedicated to all those darling moms and the much responsible employees of renowned MNC's.Indian women will surely cross this hurdle too and that too very soon.
